Can we talk about Sean Parker for a second?
I don’t hate the guy or anything like that, but I’m kind of amused by the cult presence he has for absolutely no reason.
He didn’t invent Napster, and his actual role with the company beyond being Shawn Fanning’s pal is a bit murky at best.
I guess he helped raise money for it, but how much credit do you really give him over the actual technology for doing that?
Then Mark Zuckerberg, who it’s worth pointing out again, has done nothing but rip off other people’s stuff on the way to his own billions, found him and approached Parker about being Facebook’s president.
I guess he liked his hair cut? I don’t know.
Parker then founded and / or funded a bunch of other stuff, but like with Facebook, he soon found himself thrown out on his ass or the projects just never went anywhere.
Remember when Spotify was GOING TO CHANGE EVERYTHING?!?!!?!?!?!
Now Sean Parker has this new thing called Airtime, which is Chat Roulette without the dicks. For now anyway.
And we’re all supposed to pay attention to him again?
Fuck that.
It just seems ridiculous. Yes. The guy is worth a couple of billion dollars, but who gives a shit? It’s not like he’s buying you a raft filled with strippers is he?
So what do you care how much money he has?
As far as anyone can tell, Sean Parker hasn’t really done much of anything, but made a lot of money doing it.
That’s admirable, but not deserving of everyone’s attention either.
