Don’t Stick Your Thing In The Beehive Until You Read This

Hey,

My ADHD is out of control this week. So! We’re going to switch gears and finish our SparkToro walk-through next week.

What do I have for you this week? A long ass video comparing Mastodon to Hive Social and Post.News

Here’s what you need to know if you don’t have time to listen to your favorite marketing stoner:

Grab a username on all of these platforms, even if you’re not going to use it.

Do this only if you’re a content creator of some kind.

Otherwise, DO NOT do this, because the more accounts you create and then abandon, the larger your security risk when it comes to data privacy.

Make sense?

Nobody knows what platform is going to win out to replace Twitter.

That’s why I went deep into comparing the three current frontrunners here.

Just be super careful with Post.news and Hive Social for now.

They don’t have two-factor authentication available to protect your account, and that’s a pretty serious issue if either of those apps becomes your new home.

I’m liking Mastodon, but there are some serious concerns about how welcoming it is, in particular to BIPOC people.¬†

That is deeply upsetting and, if not addressed, could leave to a lot of people (myself included) looking elsewhere.

Come for the walk-through of Mastodon, Hive Social, and Post.news, and stay for my (hopefully funny) explanation into everything that’s happening now.

P.S. No Privacy podcast this week as we’re all off for Thanksgiving. WAYWO.TV this week will feature an interview with the incredible Dean Haspiel. Some of you may know him as the long time collaborator with Harvey Pekar on American Splendor, but that’s only the tip of everything Dean has done in comics.

So come give it a listen where all podcasts can be found (search for “What Are You Working On?) or click right here to hear today’s episode.
